We are pleased to announce that our engineering team has completed the work on our Novari MIRM DICOM integration with PACS. This much requested feature enables documents to be uploaded to PACS and easily accessed by your radiologists.
Overview
The Novari MIRM DICOM integration allows your site to manage your medical imaging requisitions electronically, eliminating paper and fax from the process. DICOM integration improves the automation of documents going to your PACS system.
Functionality
When a patient checks in for their imaging appointment, Novari MIRM receives a message from the HIS system. This triggers an action to generate the request form, electronic requisition, and all other attachments into an image format, and builds a DICOM file containing metadata from both Novari MIRM and the hospital’s HIS system, and transfers the file into PACS.
- Requisitions for patients are stored in Novari MIRM with the original digitized copy sent in from the health provider.
- When a patient arrives for their imaging appointment, hospital staff will check in the patient into their HIS with the Novari MIRM requisition number.
- A message is generated by the HIS and sent to Novari MIRM to prepare the requisition for the appointment.
- Novari MIRM generates a consolidated PDF of the original request form document, patient demographic attributes, and additional attachments.
- When DICOM is configured for the client, the PDF is converted to a JPG, then sent to Novari Connect with the patient demographic attributes.
- Novari Connect creates a DICOM formatted file using the Multiframe Single Bit Secondary Capture Image format (SOP 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.7.1) and JPG image of the requisition from Novari MIRM. Attributes from the requisition are added to the DICOM file.
- The DICOM interface in Novari Connect will send the DICOM file to PACS, associating the study in PACS with the patient ID and accession number.
- Depending on the configurations and customizations of your organizations PACS system your PACS vendor may need to be engaged to successfully complete the integration of the DICOM Documents to PACS Interface.
Access
This capability is now generally available, and we highly recommend that you update your existing PACS PDF integration to the enhanced DICOM to PACS integration. To do so, please complete a change request here: Change Request Form.
